In April, UNC-Chapel Hill entered into a partnership with Barnes & Noble College to operate UNC Student Stores, with the exception of the Pharmacy and the Print Stop. Details of the arrangement are available in the campus announcement.
As part of the transition of management, UNC Student Stores will be closed to the public from 5 p.m. Thursday, June 23, until 1 p.m. Monday, June 27. When the doors reopen on Monday, the stores will be under Barnes & Noble College management, although it will largely look the same to the public, with much the same staff, name and branding.
Barnes & Noble College will open a coffee shop after they install equipment and hire staff, which could take several more weeks after the store reopens on June 27. The U.S. Post Office contract station operated by UNC Student Stores also may be delayed in reopening due to pending approvals from the U.S. Postal Service.
In advance of this transition UNC Student Stores will hold the following storewide clearance sales, starting Wednesday, June 15:
- 25% discount on the purchase of all full-price items in the Bull’s HeadBookshop
- 15% discount on the purchase of all full-price UNC Clothing and Gifts, Diploma Frames, School & Art Supplies, Medical Reference Books, and Medical Apparel and Equipment
- Save 50-75% on clearance merchandise throughout the store
(Discounts apply to in-store purchases only and cannot be combined with other offers. Course materials, Regalia, Pit Stop, Tech Shop, and Print Stop purchases are not eligible.)
Thanks to the UNC Student Stores staff for their dedication and hard work during this transition and to the campus community for your patience during this process. We are looking forward to delivering an innovative student store experience that supports and enhances Carolina’s mission and culture of intellectual exchange.
