Plans have been set to remember and honor the life of Elson S. Floyd, the former executive vice chancellor at UNC-Chapel Hill and the 10th president of Washington State University who passed away June 20.
Visitation will be held Friday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson, N.C., and the funeral will be held Saturday at noon at South Henderson Pentecostal Church in Henderson, N.C.
Floyd, who was 59, was a nationally respected voice for affordable, accessible higher education. Washington State will host an official university celebration of life honoring him on Wednesday, Aug. 26, after the students return for fall semester.
