Media availability to discuss the 17th Annual World AIDS Day Symposium
(Chapel Hill, N.C.—Dec. 3, 2015) – The UNC Center for AIDS Research and the UNC Institute for Global Health & Infectious Diseases invite media representatives to interview several top clinician-researchers presenting at the 17th Annual World AIDS Day Symposium at noon on Friday, Dec. 4.
World AIDS Day, which began in 1988, is an opportunity for the global community to unite in the fight against HIV, increase international awareness, combat stigma, and improve overall education. In 2013, North Carolina was one of the top ten states in the nation for reporting the highest number of new infections, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This year’s symposium at Carolina features presentations by University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill faculty members, globally respected researchers, and internally recognized medical professionals addressing the state of HIV in North Carolina and the latest advances into better treatment of the virus and its co-infections as well as the status of a cure.
When:
Friday, Dec. 4, noon to 1 p.m.
