Media invited to attend ceremony celebrating the largest solar panel installation at UNC-Chapel Hill

(Chapel Hill, N.C.—October 15, 2015) – The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites media representatives to attend a brief ribbon cutting ceremony and reception at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, on the main floor of the Frank Porter Graham Student Union. The event will celebrate the installation of the largest photovoltaic generation project at UNC-Chapel Hill and recognize Strata Solar and other local companies for their support of the project.

The panels are located on the roof of the Frank Porter Graham Student Union, and will help offset the building’s electricity costs as well as provide an opportunity to educate Carolina students about the latest solar technology. Strata Solar, North Carolina’s largest utility-scale solar installer, donated the solar panels. Local company donations and funding provided by UNC-Chapel Hill’s Renewable Energy Special Projects Committee (RESPC), a student-led organization that develops on-campus renewable energy projects, made installation possible.

The ceremony will last approximately 40 minutes and a reception will immediately follow the official remarks. The Carolina students of RESPC and company leaders will be available to answer questions after the event.

WHEN: Tuesday, Oct. 20, 4 p.m.
