White House honors UNC-Chapel Hill education initiative for investment in Latino youth
(Chapel Hill, N.C.— Sept. 28, 2015) – The Scholars’ Latino Initiative (SLI) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been named a “Bright Spot in Hispanic Education” by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.
SLI was selected for its college access work supporting Latino students in high schools across North Carolina.
The White House Initiative was established in 1990 to address the educational disparities faced by the Hispanic community and is celebrating its 25th anniversary as Hispanic Heritage Month launches this month.
