See “Homegoings” at UNC’s Southern Culture Movie Series, April 16

 

(Chapel Hill, N.C.—April 8, 2015) – The documentary “Homegoings” (2013, 51 min.) will be shown at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 16 in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium in the FedEx Global Education Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

 

Filmed at Owens Funeral Home in New York City’s historic Harlem neighborhood, “Homegoings” takes an up-close look at the rarely seen world of undertaking in the black community. The film is screened in conjunction with the Southern Culture Movie Series, which seeks to further introduce international students and scholars and the local community to Southern history and culture.

 

Screenings are free, open to the public, and followed by a facilitated discussion and refreshments. More information is available on the UNC Global website.
