UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School to offer
capital markets program with FIRST FINANCE Institute
(Chapel Hill, N.C.—March 31, 2015) – The University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School has announced that it will offer a capital markets certificate program in collaboration with FIRST FINANCE Institute.
The new UNC Certificate in Capital Markets Foundations is an online program designed by UNC Kenan-Flagler faculty with FIRST FINANCE Institute (FFI), one of the world’s largest online education and certification companies serving the finance services industry.
“We provide the foundational knowledge and understanding of core aspects of capital markets,” said Greg Brown, a finance professor and Sarah Graham Kenan Distinguished Scholar at UNC Kenan-Flagler. “We combine academic rigor with practical insights from FFI in an efficient, convenient format.”
“We are thrilled to partner with UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School on this exciting new program,” said Eric Chardoillet, CEO of FFI. “UNC Kenan-Flagler represents everything we look for in a business school partner: World-class academic resources, distinguished faculty and accomplished alumni working in the financial services industry.”
The online certificate program covers fundamental finance principles in three courses: introduction to capital markets, fixed-income markets and foreign exchange markets.
Each four-week course includes recorded online lectures and weekly real-time discussions with professors. Students will take weekly quizzes, have online “office hours” with UNC Kenan-Flagler and FFI faculty, and have access to an online forum to interact with classmates, faculty and guest speakers who are capital markets professionals.
Students will spend an estimated 70 hours to complete the courses and take a final exam administered by Pearson Vue testing centers, which are located worldwide. UNC and FFI will jointly issue the certificate to students who satisfactorily complete the courses and final test.
Registration is open for the program, which begins May 18, 2015. The total cost is $2,500.
