Kenan-Flagler is one of three public institutions ranked in the top 15

(Chapel Hill, N.C.—Nov. 11, 2014) – Bloomberg Businessweek has ranked the full-time MBA Program at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School as No. 12 in the United States – up five spots from the 2012 ranking– in its new rankings released today.

“Our goal is to ensure that the education, experiences and career opportunities we offer our students are world-class,” said Sridhar Balasubramanian, associate dean of the MBA Program as well as associate dean of the MBA@UNC Program and the Roy and Alice H. Richards Bicentennial Distinguished Scholar and professor of marketing.

“This new ranking is wonderful recognition of our world-class educational experiences, outstanding leadership development and special culture that our students clearly value,” he said.

The new ranking is based on:

  • A student ranking of No. 6 (45 percent of the ranking) based on surveys of UNC Kenan-Flagler’s Class of 2014 (75 percent) and Class of 2012 (25 percent)
  • An employer ranking of No. 13 (45 percent of the ranking) based on surveys of employers who hire UNC Kenan-Flagler graduates
  • An intellectual capital ranking of No. 13 (10 percent of the ranking) based on UNC Kenan-Flagler’s faculty research published in 20 journals

“I think what makes UNC unique is its competencies in several key areas,” wrote one student in the survey. “It has a great combination of exceptional students, faculty and facilities. Additionally, the career services and career opportunities that the program provided greatly exceeded my expectations. I was thoroughly impressed by the access to employers and job opportunities that I received. Finally, I believe the network that I was able to develop with current students and alumni will be an instrumental part of my career success after I leave UNC Kenan-Flagler.”

In its last ranking in 2012, Bloomberg Businessweek ranked UNC Kenan-Flagler No. 17 overall, based on a No. 18 student ranking, No. 14 recruiter ranking and No. 25 intellectual capital ranking. Methodological changes were made for the 2014 ranking

“The entire UNC Kenan-Flagler community – our faculty, staff, students, alumni and corporate partners – is committed to the success of the full-time MBA Program,” said Douglas A. Shackelford, dean of UNC Kenan-Flagler. “We are proud to be – and to be recognized as – one of the world’s best business schools.”
