Media are invited to attend a ceremonial presentation of Gov. Pat McCrory’s proclamation of November as American Indian Heritage Month to the University of North Carolina System.

The event will begin with a short performance of Native American music. Jarrod Lowery, the governor’s community outreach liaison and a Lumbee Indian, then will read the proclamation and present it to a representative of the UNC General Administration. The event is being held at UNC-Chapel Hill’s American Indian Center, the only center of its kind within the 17-campus system.

The presentation will be followed by brief remarks by Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost James W. Dean Jr. of UNC-Chapel Hill and representatives from N.C. State University and UNC-Pembroke.
