The Good Neighbor Initiative, a collaborative effort of the town of Chapel Hill and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, needs volunteers this week for two cleanup projects in the historic Northside neighborhood.
One project is painting, landscaping and minor repair work at two homes Tuesday through Friday as part of Habitat for Humanity’s Brush With Kindness. The program helps families finance repairs and renovations needed to keep their homes in safe and decent condition. Work shifts are 8 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
The other project is Sunday’s Northside CleanSweep Trash and Recyclables Walk, sponsored by the Good Neighbor Initiative and Orange County Solid Waste Management. Volunteers will gather at the Hargraves Center at 2 p.m. and will branch out to pick up litter and distribute information about recycling in the neighborhood until 5 p.m.
To volunteer for either project, email ofitzger@email.unc.edu with the desired shift and day.
