Olexander Motsyk, ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, will visit the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Oct. 10 and discuss “Ukraine in Global Politics: Relations with Russia, Europe and the U.S.” at 5:30 p.m. in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium at the FedEx Global Education Center.
Olexander Motsyk, ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, will visit the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Oct. 10 and discuss “Ukraine in Global Politics: Relations with Russia, Europe and the U.S.” at 5:30 p.m. in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium at the FedEx Global Education Center.
After his remarks, Ambassador Motsyk will participate in a roundtable discussion with UNC faculty members, including Klaus Larres, Richard M. Krasno Distinguished Professor in the department of history, and Robert Jenkins, director of the Center for Slavic, Eurasian and East European Studies. The ambassador will be accompanied on his visit by Stanislav Yezhov, counselor at the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington, D.C.
The Ukrainian ambassador is the second dignitary to visit UNC in conjunction with the “Ambassadors Forum” organized by the Richard M. Krasno Distinguished Professorship, the Center for European Studies and the department of history. The forum featuring the Ukrainian ambassador is also co-sponsored by the Center for Slavic, Eurasian and East European Studies.
The forum brings prominent diplomats, politicians and business leaders to campus to give public lectures and conduct seminars and workshops for graduate students. Students have the opportunity to engage firsthand with international leaders and obtain insights into the practical application of their study of history, political science, European studies and international relations.
