LEARN NC, an outreach program of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Education, has published a guide for elementary school teachers, administrators and parents to help them navigate the implementation of the new Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. These standards are being used for instruction and assessment in North Carolina’s public schools this school year for the first time.

“This site brings together a variety of resources in a single location, serving as a one-stop portal meant to meet the various needs of teachers during this implementation process,” said Kay Ringer, a doctoral candidate in the School of Education and author of the guide.

The guide, available at http://www.learnnc.org/lp/editions/math-CCSS-resources, explains key components of the standards, identifies professional development opportunities for teachers and supports parents in helping their children meet the standards.
