9 a.m. today (Aug. 15)-10 p.m. (Sunday) Aug. 19
Most of the 3,500 first-year and transfer students will be moving into the high-rise residence halls Friday and Saturday. Rising sophomores, juniors and seniors can move in as early as today, as can residents of Ram Village and Odum Village apartments. This alcohol-free outdoor celebration welcomes students to campus with free food, performances by student groups and bands, games and more. Student organizations and recreation leagues set up information tables to encourage students to get involved at Carolina. For more on Fallfest, visit http://fallfest.unc.edu/. In the event of rain or severe weather, please check this website for an announcement about the status of FallFest.

Good Neighbor Initiative walk around
4 p.m. Monday (Aug. 20), rain or shine
Hargraves Center, 216 N. Roberson St.
Now in its ninth year, the year-round Good Neighbor Initiative encourages students who live off campus to meet their neighbors and work with them to build community and keep neighborhoods clean and safe. Teams of UNC students, staff and public safety officers, Chapel Hill police officers and town staff members, community groups and other volunteers will meet at the Hargraves Center before fanning out into neighborhoods surrounding downtown Chapel Hill. The teams visit students and year-round residents in the Northside, Pine Knolls, Cameron-McCauley and Davie Circle neighborhoods with information about community services, local ordinances and alcohol laws, and good neighbor practices. Residents also will be invited to the Good Neighbor Block Party at the Hargraves Center on Sept. 13.

Tar Heel Bikes
2 p.m. Aug. 23
Rams Head Plaza
Tar Heel Bikes is a new student-led bicycle sharing initiative that will enable on-campus students to check out one of 30 new bikes for free for up to 24 hours using their student identification cards. The bicycles selected were purchased from the Kona AfricaBike Three program, which donates bicycles to healthcare workers, schools, water monitoring officers, and goodwill organizations throughout sub-Saharan Africa. For every two bikes purchased in the United States, Kona sends one abroad. After the project launch announcement, students will then test out the new bikes on campus from 2-5 p.m. For more information, please contact co-founder Danny Allen at dkallen65@gmail.com or (336) 202-9125. More information can also be found at http://rha.unc.edu/tarheelbikes/.
