The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Government presented awards to public officials from Gaston County and Charlotte as part of its April 20 graduation ceremony for the 2008–2009 Municipal and County Administration Course.
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Government presented awards to public officials from Gaston County and Charlotte as part of its April 20 graduation ceremony for the 2008–2009 Municipal and County Administration Course.
Rebecca Lamphiear, economic services administrator in the Gaston County Department of Social Services, received the Edwin M. Gill Award during the ceremony. The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners presents the award each year to the class member with the most distinguished record. The award is given in honor of Edwin M. Gill, former State Treasurer and chairman of the North Carolina Local Government Commission. Lamphiear was one of 30 officials who completed the County Administration course this year. More than 1,350 officials have completed the course since it began in 1964.
The George C. Franklin Award went to Jeffrey Morris Dulin, deputy chief of the City of Charlotte’s Fire Department. The North Carolina League of Municipalities presents the award each year to the class member with the most distinguished record. The award is given in honor of the League’s former general counsel, George C. Franklin. Dulin was one of 67 officials who completed the Municipal Administration course this year. More than 2,800 officials have completed the course since it began in 1954.
