What’s it like to run a Fortune 500 company that controls 30 percent of the brewing market? Tom Long, chief executive officer of MillerCoors, will give the public a glimpse into his responsibilities at a free lecture Monday (Oct. 10) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Long, who earned a bachelor’s degree from Carolina in 1981, will talk about marketing, advertising, finance and operations in the ever-changing brewing company. His speech begins at 5:30 p.m. at Koury Auditorium. Free parking is available in the business school parking deck on a first-come, first-served basis. Before his appointment as CEO, Long was president and chief commercial officer of MillerCoors. He also served as president and chief executive officer of Miller Brewing Company from 2006-2008, after joining Miller as chief marketing officer in 2005. Long has previously held senior global positions in sales, marketing and general management including at the Coca-Cola Company and McCann-Erickson Advertising.
