A new class of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill alumni and friends began their terms this summer on the UNC Board of Visitors, one of the most active volunteer groups at the University.
A new class of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill alumni and friends began their terms this summer on the UNC Board of Visitors, one of the most active volunteer groups at the University.
The approximately 160 members of the board assist the Board of Trustees and Chancellor in a range of activities that help advance the University, including marketing, top student recruitment, government relations and fundraising. Also, members serve as ambassadors, informing their communities about what is going on at Carolina and, in turn, keeping the University administration informed about what they hear about Carolina in their communities.
Board of Visitors members serve four-year terms that begin on July 1. Each year, as members rotate off, the Board of Trustees elects a class of new members. Current chair of the Board of Visitors is Linda Tarrson of Chicago, and the vice chair is William Hobbs of Charlotte.
