Special additions this year include information about UNC sustainability efforts and green initiatives and an 11 a.m. tour led by Wendy Hillis, campus historic preservation officer, that will highlight architectural features.
The Visitors’ Center serves as the front door to the University and offers tours, maps, information about UNC and the Carolina community. Specialized tours have been designed for prospective graduate students and school groups. (For the high school student contemplating college, the best way to get to know UNC is to schedule a campus tour and information session given by the UNC Admissions Department.)
The center also maintains information for area visitors on everything from history to hotels, restaurants, events and more. An interactive touch screen can direct visitors to anywhere they need to go on campus.
The Visitors’ Center is located inside Morehead Planetarium and Science Center. The entrance is on the west side of the building, with large columns and blue welcome banners flanking the door.
