As unrest continues in Egypt, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill faculty experts will analyze issues driving the protests and answer questions from the audience at a free public forum Monday (Feb. 7) at UNC.

As unrest continues in Egypt, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill faculty experts will analyze issues driving the protests and answer questions from the audience at a free public forum Monday (Feb. 7) at UNC.

The forum, “Egypt in Crisis,” will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the George Watts Hill Alumni Center at 106 Stadium Drive. It will feature experts in international conflict resolution, political science, the Middle East and Islamic studies, addressing questions about the rapidly developing events and political protests in Egypt.

The program will be one of the UNC General Alumni Association’s “Think Fast” forums on current events. Faculty participating will include:

  • Richard H. Kohn, moderator, professor of history and peace, war and defense; and
  • Mark J.C. Crescenzi, associate professor of political science.

Also speaking will be three members of the Carolina Center for the Study of the Middle East and Muslim Civilizations:

  • Carl W. Ernst, Kenan Distinguished Professor of Religious Studies;
  • Doria El Kerdany, a lecturer in Asian studies; and
  • Nadia Yaqub, associate professor of Asian studies.
