During the holidays, blood donations usually decrease, yet the demand for blood at health facilities in our region continues.

This year, begin celebrating with a gift of life to patients in our area. Donate blood from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 14 in Woollen Gym at UNC’s Holiday Blood Drive. The goal is 400 units. Last year, 408 were collected.
Besides the feel-good buzz from a good deed, you’ll get free food afterward – choose from pizza, barbecue, doughnuts and more – a free T-shirt and a chance to win airline tickets. For UNC folks, drive time is work time with permission from your supervisor.
So help the American Red Cross give second chances to patients who need our help. Visit www.unc.edu/blood for details and to register.
Besides the Red Cross, the drive is sponsored by human resources, the athletics department and a committee from across campus.
