Chinese Brush Painting:  Holly Holiday Card Workshop

Winter Owl Prowl

Listen and look for signs of screech, barred, and great horned owls. Otus the screech owl will stop by for a visit to give a personal view of a live owl. Learn why owls are so important to the environment and what you can do to help protect them. This event is co-sponsored by the Piedmont Wildlife Center. ‘The Nutcracker’ – Carolina Ballet

A holiday season staple, Robert Weiss' “Nutcracker” is a fantasy classic, about the irrepressible imagination of a child's world in which all things are possible. Featuring toy soldiers, dancing snowflakes, an army of mice and the Sugar Plum Fairy, the original work was Tchaikovsky’s third and last major ballet. Tickets start at $30 for adults and $18 for children 12 and younger. Tickets for Carolina students with valid UNC One Cards are $10. Policy Implications of the Qualitative Assessment: H1N1 Vaccination Campaign Participation by African Americans in Wake County

The first seminar of the 2010-2011 CBPR Seminar Series will look at how community-based participatory research was used to help encourage African Americans in Wake County to get the H1N1 vaccine during last year’s flu outbreak.  The CBPR Seminar Series is co-sponsored by the UNC Kellogg Health Scholars Program, the Carolina Center for Public Service, Carolina Community Network and HPDP. Future seminar speakers and topics will be announced in the coming weeks.  Registration is encouraged, but not required. Fitting Memorials: Postwar American Jews and the Memory of the Holocaust

Hasia Diner, director of the Goldstein-Goren Center for American Jewish History at New York University, will discuss how Jewish Americans dealt with the tragedy of the Holocaust in the immediate aftermath of World War II. Dinner With Faculty

George Watts Hill Alumni Center, The Carolina Club.
Our Dinner with Faculty program offers the opportunity for no more than 11 participants to enjoy free-ranging discussions with prominent and popular UNC faculty while dining at The Carolina Club. Engage with faculty on a more intimate level and ask questions. All dinners begin at 6:30 p.m. and include three courses plus coffee and tea. Jacket required for men; no jeans please. Cost is $40 for general public and $25 for GAA members. Attending all five dinners will cost $175 and $100 for GAA members. This class will speak on the day, 150 years later, that South Carolina seceded from the Union, setting in motion an inevitable national collapse into civil war.
