The Institute of African American Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will celebrate its 15th anniversary May 7.
“Celebrating Our Past and Anticipating Our Future” will be the theme of the program and dinner from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education.
Dr. Troy Duster, sociology professor at New York University and Chancellor’s Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, will give the keynote address. Contributions of former administrators, founders and friends will be acknowledged; current institute board members, scholars and others will be introduced.
Tickets are $30 each or $50 per couple. For ticket information, contact Veronica Bellamy at cookee@email.unc.edu. A limited number of hotel rooms will be available for participants.
