Chemist Wenbin Lin of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been named to an international top 10 list reflecting recognition of his publishing track record.

Lin, Ph.D, is a professor in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Eshelman School of Pharmacy.

The Times Higher Education, a weekly London-based publication, named Lin among the “Top Ten Chemists of the Decade.” The list ranks chemistry researchers by the number of citations by other researchers per article published. From January 1999 through June 2009, Lin published 106 original studies and review articles, which were cited 6,685 times, averaging 63 citations per paper.

Lin’s research group works on a variety of interdisciplinary projects, addressing fields such as the environment and sustainability, alternative renewable energy, nanobiotechnology and human health.

Lin is involved in several UNC-based centers including the Solar Energy Research Center, the Carolina Center of Cancer Nanotechnology Excellence, the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Institute for Advanced Materials, Nanoscience and Technology.
