Archbishop Desmond Tutu, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize and South African anti-apartheid campaigner is this year’s commencement speaker. He was the first black Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa, and chaired the country’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission as the nation began its process of rebuilding after apartheid. Tutu continues to work globally to advocate for democracy, freedom and human rights. He campaigns to fight AIDS, poverty and racism.
