Media representatives are invited to cover the “Yield to Heels” pedestrian safety education campaign at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill next week.

Four crosswalks (details below)
UNC-Chapel Hill campus
To encourage safety and visibility, campaign volunteers will be at designated crosswalks to distribute educational fliers and reward those who they see using proper pedestrian techniques.
Volunteers will be stationed at the following crosswalks between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.:
- South Road at the Bell Tower
- South Road by the Student Recreation Center
- South Columbia at the fraternity court
- Pittsboro Street at the Gillings School of Global Public Health/State Employees’ Credit Union
The “Yield to Heels” campaign, coordinated by the UNC Highway Safety Research Center and UNC Department of Public Safety, encourages drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists to be aware, considerate and safe.
