Michele Buck, global chief marketing officer of The Hershey Co., will give a free public lecture at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on March 24.

The 5:30 p.m. talk at the Kenan-Flagler Business School’s Koury Auditorium is part of the Dean’s Speakers Series and UNC Women’s Week, sponsored by the Carolina Women’s Center.

The talk will be followed by a reception in the Kenan Center dining room, and free parking will be available in the business school parking deck. To reserve a seat for the lecture, call (919) 843-7787 or e-mail kfbsrsvp@unc.edu.

Buck, who received her master’s of business administration from Kenan-Flagler in 1987, joined Hershey in April 2005 as senior vice president of Hershey and president of its domestic snacks group; she was responsible for leading Hershey’s expansion into the broad snack market. Before joining Hershey, Buck was senior vice president and general manager, Kraft Food Confections. In this position, she was responsible for leading Kraft’s $800 million confectionery business, including brands like Lifesavers, Altoids and Kraft marshmallows, and was an officer of the company.

The Dean’s Speaker Series was created to bring outstanding scholars and leaders from the field of business, education, and government to campus to share their thoughts and insights. The series is made possible through support of the Archie K. Davis Endowment, and is managed primarily by Kenan-Flagler students, who select and invite the speakers. Past series speakers include Timothy P. Flynn, chairman of KPMG International; William C. Weldon, chairman and chief executive officer of Johnson & Johnson; and Barry Salzberg, CEO of Deloitte and Touche USA LLP.
