The American Indian Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will sponsor an American Indian Reunion dinner, dance and silent auction at 6:30 p.m. March 20.

American Indian UNC alumni, American Indians interested in the University and center supporters are invited to attend the event in the Chancellor’s Ballroom of the Carolina Inn. Advance registration is required by March 9 at http://alumni.unc.edu/air, where tickets to the event may be purchased.

Reunion participants also will be able to attend the annual pow-wow of the UNC student group Carolina Indian Circle, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 21 in Fetzer Gym.

The American Indian Center will host a brunch before the pow-wow at 9 a.m. in the Frank Porter Graham Student Union.  The brunch will give alumni an opportunity to discuss the possibility of forming an American Indian alumni organization, said center director Clara Sue Kidwell.

The March 20 reunion will begin with a cocktail hour at which attendees may bid on items donated by American Indian artists and vendors throughout North Carolina. Featured items will include artwork, pottery, jewelry, gift certificates and Carolina sports memorabilia. The silent auction proceeds will benefit the American Indian Center’s program fund.

Live entertainment will be provided by Dark Water Rising, a new band featuring alumni Charly Lowry, who graduated in 2006, Arnold Corey Locklear (2005) and Aaron Locklear (2004).

For more information, tickets and registration, visit the reunion page of the UNC General Alumni Association’s Web site, http://alumni.unc.edu/air. Association Members will be able to purchase tickets at a reduced rate.
