The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School recognized seven outstanding alumni at its 10th annual Alumni Association Awards ceremony Friday (Nov. 7).
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School recognized seven outstanding alumni at its 10th annual Alumni Association Awards ceremony Friday (Nov. 7).
Leonard W. Wood of Atlanta received the Business School Leadership Award, which recognizes an alumnus or alumna who demonstrates exceptional achievement in a career field, personal endeavor or service to UNC Kenan-Flagler. The retired founder of Wood Partners, LLC, earned a master’s of business administration from Carolina in 1972.
Jack N. Behrman of Chapel Hill received the Global Leadership Award, which honors an alumnus, alumna or friend of the school whose global participation and initiative advance the school’s education, research and public service mission. The Luther H. Hodges Distinguished Professor Emeritus at UNC Kenan-Flagler earned a master’s degree in economics from Carolina in 1945.
UNC Kenan-Flagler awarded Alumni Merit Awards to five individuals who personify the school’s tradition of excellence:
- David M. Carroll of Charlotte received the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Alumni Merit Award. He is a senior executive vice president and head of the capital management group at Wachovia Corporation. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Carolina in 1979.
- Tom Harvey of West Palm Beach, Fla., received the MBA Alumni Merit Award. He is the former Pulte Homes area president for Florida and the former executive director of the Center for Real Estate Development at UNC Kenan-Flagler. He earned his MBA from Carolina in 1972.
- Claire Babrowski of Boonton, N.J., received the Executive MBA Merit Award. The executive vice president and chief operations officer of Toys R Us earned an executive MBA from Carolina in 1995.
- Roland T. Rust of Bethesda, Md., received the Ph.D. Alumni Merit Award. He is a Distinguished University Professor and David Bruce Smith Chair in Marketing at the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. He earned a doctorate in business from Carolina in 1979.
- William F. Ezzell Jr. of Arlington, Va., received the Master of Accounting Alumni Merit Award. The national managing partner of legislative and regulatory relations for Deloitte, LLP earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Carolina in 1973.
