The North Carolina Scholastic Media Association will host its annual four-day journalism workshop – the N.C. Scholastic Media Institute – for high school students and teachers June 16-19 at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The workshop is designed to teach creative and efficient ways to communicate through high school newspapers, yearbooks, literary magazines and broadcasts. High School students and teachers are encouraged to participate. The workshop also allows students to experience college life and to explore media careers.

Students may choose to focus on one of the following areas during the workshop: TV news, newspapers, desktop publishing/design, photography, yearbook or literary magazine. Teachers may participate in one of these areas along with their students or they may choose the adviser track. Teachers may receive continuing education credits.

Registration fee is $160. Application postmark deadline is May 27.
