The North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra will perform a “Swingin’ Yuletide Celebration” beginning at 8 p.m. Friday (Dec. 7) in Memorial Hall. Music by Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton, Glenn Miller and arrangements by group members will be on the program.

Carolina music professor Jim Ketch, director of jazz studies in the music department, is music director for the orchestra, whose members also include music faculty from other UNC campuses around the state. The 18-piece ensemble specializes in big-band music as well as jazz. For more information, visit http://www.ncjro.org/.

The concert is one of four by the orchestra in Memorial this year that are sponsored by Carolina Performing Arts.
