The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will stress the importance of pedestrian awareness as part of the “Yield to Heels” pedestrian safety education campaign. To encourage safety and visibility, Yield to Heels volunteers will be at designated crosswalks to distribute educational fliers and reward those who they see using proper pedestrian techniques.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will stress the importance of pedestrian awareness as part of the “Yield to Heels” pedestrian safety education campaign. To encourage safety and visibility, Yield to Heels volunteers will be at designated crosswalks to distribute educational fliers and reward those who they see using proper pedestrian techniques.
Volunteers will be stationed between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the following crosswalks:
- South Road at the Bell Tower
- South Road by the Student Recreation Center
- South Columbia at the fraternity court
- Manning Drive near the School of Dentistry and the Thurston Bowles Building
The “Yield to Heels” campaign, coordinated by the UNC Highway Safety Research Center, UNC Department of Public Safety and Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, encourages drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists to be aware, be considerate and be safe.
